Lazurite crystal, Afghanistan
This is a really interesting specimen, a single crystal of lazurite, the main "ingredient" in lapis lazuli rock. It has an intense blue colour and you can see the straight edges of the crystal form. I'd only ever seen the massive lapis lazuli rock before, not the component blue material. Highlighted on a vintage shell base. From Afghanistan.
7/16 inch (1.1 cm) wide, 7/16 inch (1.1 cm) deep, 3/8 inch (0.95 cm) tall.
