Crocoite, Australia. Glass dome.
A fundraiser for Australian wildlife.A gorgeous, naturally coloured specimen of crocoite from the Adelaide Mine, Dundas, Tasmania, Australia. Since the crystals are fragile, I have mounted this with a removable glass cover to protect it. I have not glued the cover in place so that you have the choice of how to display it and can secure the cover yourself if you wish. Crocoite is a lead ore, so it is sensible to wash one's hands after touching it.
1 1/16 inches (2.7 cm) in diameter, 1 1/16 inches (2.7 cm) with cover, 5/8 inch (1.6 cm) tall without cover.
