Arborescent magnesium sculpture
A very sculptural, asymmetric specimen of arborescent (tree-like) magnesium, set in a bowl of water-clear resin. I was inspired by the Asian tradition of suiseki, or viewing stones, in putting this piece together. Because of the specimen's asymmetry it does look better from some angles than others but I have photographed it to show this. This metal specimen formed as the by-product of an industrial process. The shallow glazed ceramic dish is by Craig Roberts, aka The Hairy Potter, and is signed by him.
3/4 inch (1.9 cm) in diameter and just over 1 1/8 inches (2.9 cm) tall.
